CampusCome for a Free Tour in English

We are happy to offer free tours to small groups and individual visitors. Our students love practicing their English skills with foreigners! We frequently host tourists and tour groups, university groups, and religious organizations.

If you call or email ahead, we may be able to arrange a student-led tour or give you and your group one-on-one time to talk with some of our students.

On your tour you will learn about the history of the school, our scholarship program, and education in Honduras. You will hear stories about our volunteers, founders, students, and permanent staff-members, and you will get to see them in action if you come during a school day (M-F, 7am-3pm, Aug-June).

If you cannot come to campus during school hours, please call or email (2651-4149, info@mayatanfoundation.org) to arrange an alternate time to tour the school.

Road Scholars LunchGroup Tours - Share a meal with Mayatan students!

If you have a group of 6 or more, we can accommodate a special group visit that includes a one-hour tour of campus, and a traditional Honduran meal with Mayatan students. The total cost is $15 per person, which includes the price of the meal and a small donation to our scholarship program. If you're interested in a group tour, please e-mail development@mayatanfoundation.org at least 3 days in advance of your projected visit.

Other Ways to Visit

High school students can study abroad at Mayatan via our Learning Abroad program, and dedicated travelers can volunteer in our classrooms for periods of 2-8 weeks.

Student studyingGetting to Campus

You can take a moto-taxi from the center of Copán Ruinas to our campus for about L20 ($1.00) a person. We are about 2 km from the Parque Central on the road that leads to the Macaw Mountain Bird Park. The walk to campus offers great views but is mostly uphill.

The best times to visit are between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. When you arrive, please check in at the Administration building, which is closest to the road.
