Academics: An Educational Overview

Mayatan Bilingual School follows the laws and regulations set by the Honduran Ministry of Education. Because of the special requirements of bilingual education, we supplement the national standards with additional subjects and offerings, as guided by the Association of Bilingual Schools of Honduras (ABSH). We also follow the requirements of the University of Missouri High School Program and proudly belong to IB World Schools.

We have designed our curriculum so that students from Copán and neighboring communities can compete with the country and around the world.

All of our students graduate with a diploma from the University of Missouri High School Program.

Additionally, students decide between two Honduran Titles:

  1. International Baccalaureate in Science and Humanities

  2. Professional Technical Baccalaureate in Hotel Administration

This gives the opportunity to students to finish high school with a US diploma and additionally either a specialization in Hotel administration or science and humanities.

Particularly the title Professional Technical Baccalaureate in Hotel Administration opens the doors to students who want or need to work before continuing their studies. At the same time, it helps the tourism workforce of Copan Ruinas to grow and present a quality bilingual service.
